Update from Adminsitrator – April 8, 2021

Dear Family Members and Responsible Parties,

I hope this email finds you well. As of this writing Newtown Rehabilitation and Health Care Center does not have any Covid Positive Residents or Staff. It appears that all the PPE Precautions, 6 feet of social distancing handwashing, sanitizing all high touch surfaces, as well as vaccinations are helping to slow the spread of the Coronavirus in this facility and in other health care facilities in CT.

We appreciate all the families and friends who have come for Indoor Visits and Outdoor Visits, especially around Passover and Easter. I know the visits meant a great deal to your loved ones, and I am sure to you as well.

Thank you in a special way for your compliance with allowing us to take your temperature, answer the Covid questionnaire, sanitize your hands, wear masks and refrain from eating and drinking with your loved ones during the visit. We all know at this point that the Coronavirus is an airborne virus, so the more masks are worn, the better protection is afforded our residents, staff and visitors.

Also, thank you for understanding and giving us time to sanitize the areas before and after each visit. We really appreciate your presence and desire to make the visits as safe as possible.

Tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. some of our staff will be on a call with the Dept. of Public Health. The call will focus on Visitation. If any new information is presented, you will receive an email from me updating you with any changes.

Our weekly call will occur tomorrow 4/9 at 1:00 p.m. to connect with all of you once again. We will be available for any of your questions.

In closing, I would like to inform everyone that due to a number of residents who did not have telephone service in their rooms prior to the pandemic, a new telephone system has been installed for the purpose of making phone service possible for every resident in the facility. This step was taken to assure each resident has a phone at bedside that loved ones can call to reach out and share their love and stories of the day with their family member. The installation was ahead of schedule . I thought I would be able to share the news on tomorrow’s call, but that plan did not materialize. Instead,  Managers and Dept. Heads have reached out to families to inform them of the new phone number assigned to their loved ones’ phones so phone calls could resume.

We hope you will be pleased with the new phone service.

I looking forward to speaking with you tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Linda A. Urbanski, Ph.D., Administrator
